Up for sale here is the masterpiece debut album ‘Give Up’ by The Postal Service released by Sub Pop. This is a brand new deluxe 10-year anniversary edition of ‘Give Up’ in the very rare 3-LP vinyl Loser Edition set. It comes in a stunning tri-color 3-lp vinyl set (clear translucent, red translucent, and solid white colors). Yes this limited edition comes in 3 colors. It is a true collector’s edition and it is very rare to see in this type of condition. The condition is brand new, sealed, and unused.

The first four photos (photo 1-4) are photos of the exact physical copy that you will receive. The next four photos (photo 5-8) are photos from Modern Vinyl’s website, and are merely being used here to show what is inside this LP box set that you are looking at. However, I’m not 100% certain if the postcards are included inside the sealed copy of this 3LP anniversary edition. I’m not going to open this new copy it to find out.

“Packaging: This is where Sub Pop has really stepped up and put something out that’s truly a love letter for fans of Give Up. To begin, the album is spread across three 12” records ( Clear / White / Red for the “Loser Edition” and Black for the regular edition). The initial album is pressed on White, while the remixes and covers are pressed on red and the B-sides and extra songs are pressed on clear. All three of the records are beautiful and fit the color scheme of the album perfectly. In order to house these records, Sub Pop had to redesign the old vinyl gatefold packaging Give Up once had. So they replaced it with a box like set that binds four sleeves. Each panel of these sleeves depicts the artwork found on the band’s EP releases following Give Up. The set is rather large and you’ll have a tough time finding a plastic sleeve to cover this thing, but regardless, it’s well designed and gives full appreciation to the artwork used on all the band’s released material.

Within one of these sleeves, you will find a booklet which contains a completely redesigned full 12” layout of the artwork used in Give Up’s initial release, along with some newly released photos of the members in the studio and promo shots. Jeff Kleinsmith, the designer of the original art packaging, did the layout of this vinyl package, as well, so the quality of this reissue is quite high. For the “Loser Edition” of the package, buyers were also treated to a 7×5, 9-postcard set nicely housed in a manila envelope. It’s a nice packaging perk that tops what is already a celebrated set. Hell, even the download card looks cool.

Extras: In regards to extras, the music in itself is worth the high price tag. In addition to the album, you are treated to 15 extra tracks; two of which are previously unreleased. These additional tracks include remixes, covers from other bands (including my personal favorite, Iron & Wine’s cover of “Such Great Heights”), and live sessions. Now to be fair, many of these songs have been heard prior. Aside from the two new tracks, every song in this set was released a long time ago. Not to mention, the new songs will not necessarily turn heads. Regardless, it’s nice to have all the material housed in a singular package. If you’ve never owned the album on vinyl before, this is the ideal package to pick up. If you’re looking for a bevy of new tunes, you’d be fine with sticking with your older version.”
