Description

Here is an extremely rare Police prototype colored vinyl disc made for A&M Records, but never manufactured. In 1979 A&M Released the Police's second album, REGATTA DE BLANC, as a regular album and as a double 10" vinyl set. During the process of putting together this release, a small number of prototypes were made for A&M Records by Pic Disc, the company that pioneered the picture disc. Rather than just using colored vinyl, this prototype has multiple colored geometric patterns pressed into a black vinyl disc. Only the first disc ("Record 1") of the set was made in this experimental manner. The colored vinyl experiment was abandoned, however, and the commercial release was on regular black vinyl. Only a handful were ever pressed. This example is VG+, with some light surface scuff marks. One label has some light wear. Not issued in cover.
