The Nuns - The Nuns (Vinyl, 1980, BOMP! Records BLP 4010). 
The debut album by seminal San Francisco punk rockers The Nuns.
The Nuns are long gone, mostly forgotten, and highly underappreciated.  They were inventive and unusual in many ways -- for example, they're the only punk band I know of, before or since, to have a piano.  Having six members was also atypical of the time and the genre.  With pretty good songwriting, musicianship far above the punk standard, and one great singer (the late Jennifer Miro), The Nuns were the total package.  They were at once of their time and ahead of it -- a rare feat.
While their overall sound, at least on record, was more controlled and mannered than is commonly associated with punk, their stance, attitude, and lyrical content were unabashedly punk.  At the same time their sound paved the way for what would come to called New Wave.
Jennifer Miro could've had a really nice life as a pop singer . . . her desire led her down a different path and she was on hand for every incarnation and reforming of the Nuns until her health declined in the fall of 2011.  She died a few months later at 54..
The Nuns is packaged in standard fashion, with a non-gatefold jacket and a plain white inner sleeve.  One odd thing about that white inner sleeve, and I've never seen this elsewhere, is that the number 217 is printed in one corner, inside a circle (see photo).  I have no idea what it means or why it's there.  The label of the record has information for both sides printed on Side 1 and a picture makes up the Side 2 label (see photos).
The jacket is in good shape (I don't I looked this good at 40) . . . there are a couple of crunches, a little corner wear but wear along the top, bottom, and spine is nearly nonexistent.
The record sounds good . . . a crackle here and there, and to my unending frustration, one little skip during "Savage."  It was there when I purchased this record new.  When I took it back to the store to exchange it, they didn't have another copy and over time I forgot about it.
The Nuns are one of the best and most important bands you may never have heard of.
