1967 Mono album on Deram DML.707,  Original first mono pressing on the Deram DSS label (light brown lettering).

Matrix numbers:  Side 1: ARL-8078-2W   Side 2: ARL-8079-2W

I would grade vinyl as "Very Good+". Visually there are some fine sleeve marks and light scuffs. Audibly there is a light click from a small scratch in the run-in at the start of Side 1 before the music starts, and also at the very end of Side 2 a small scratch during the spoken epilogue, after Nights in White Satin. If it wasn't for these would grade as "Excellent". There's nothing else apart from some light hiss/static in some quiet passages, probably always been there. The sound quality is great for a near 50 year old record. I have not listened with a mono cartridge or mono switch, it might sound even better that way. I have listened to quite a few mono records recently and my system does seem to bring out a little bit more surface noise than with the stereo equivalents.

I would grade the sleeve as "Very Good+", and quite close to "Excellent". The laminated front has some small creases around the edge, there is very little edge or corner wear, and the spine is clear and readable. The white matt rear has built up some grey grubbiness over the years (see pics). The original plastic lined inner sleeve is a bit tatty but is the proper pink border Mono sleeve that Decca included.

Why am I selling records?

Due to a planned downsizing of our home I am selling my entire collection of vinyl records over the next few months, so take a look at my other items. I am not a dealer or a professional collector, but I will attempt to grade the items using the UK Record Collector Grading System (see below). All the records will be carefully cleaned and listened through before grading. If you disagree with my grading or are unhappy with the item you receive, please contact me first, before giving me negative feedback, I will do my best to resolve matters. The majority of my collection has been barn stored and unplayed for the last 25 years, and when in use were played on good equipment (Garrard 125SB deck) and well looked after.

Postage and Packing

Records will be securely packaged and despatched as soon as possible using Royal Mail second class small parcel service with a signature required. Cost is £3.95 for up to 2 Kg. If you buy more than one record then send me a message and I will package together and send you an invoice with just one postage charge. You can get about 4 or even 5 albums under 2 Kg.

UK Record Collector Grading System

Mt = Mint: Never been played or item still sealed. Cover and any extra items such as lyric sheet, booklet or poster (ie contents) are in perfect condition.
Mt- = Near Mint: In brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. Cover and contents nearly perfect.
Ex = Excellent: Shows some signs of being played but there is very little lessening in sound quality. Cover and contents might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VG+ = Better than Very Good: Obviously been played but no significant deterioration in sound quality despite light surface marks. Very little wear and tear on cover and contents, without any major defects.
VG = Very Good: Obviously been played many times but no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on cover or contents, without any major defects.
Gd+ = Better than Good: Sound quality has deteriorated but with no distortion. Light scratches and occasional mild scratch. Cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges but not spine splits or discoloration.
Gd = Good: Sound quality has noticably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion. Mild scratches. Cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration etc.
Fair: Still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise - it may even jump. Cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
Poor: Will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise etc. Cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
