Description

A genuine UK MONO RCA1st press from 1967. Matrix 1K/1K. Stampers 1-CH/1UA [1st mother - great audio provenance]. Note the labels exhibit the Decca deep groove as you would expect to find on a 1st issue. The earliest copies present like this one - and the catalogue is yet to be tidied up with hyphen etc. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original mono cover with pinched spine. 
Vinyl (Ex) In great condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a coupe of slight marks per side - nothing heavy or overtly troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. This might not sound all that impressive - but I tend to find this release difficult to find playing really well. Possibly due to the delicate audio and possibly due to Monkees fans level of care! But this example is much better than many a copy I've witnessed, Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Playing clean into all of those lowkey sections. It's a very revealing rendition and I can hear all the intricate percussion rattling away in the background. This tends to get muddied even on reasonably well cared for copies. An all time classic title so why would you want to compromise on the audio? Really only the best audio available is the one to go for. All I could make out was a couple of minor ticks in one isolated spot per side. Truly magic. Highly recommended. If you spot anything on the wide angle vinyl shot - it's just my reflection!
Cover (Ex-) Very nice and flat front with only slightest evidence ageing evident. The rear has avoided much of the usual the ageing process - just slightest evidence. Hardly any edge wear and sharp firm openings. Spine is 99% intact - really impressive. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
