Description
The Kinks were an English rock band formed in North London in 1964 by brothers Ray Davies (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), and Dave Davies (backing vocals). The band emerged during the height of British rhythm and blues, and the Merseybeat. 'Lola Versus Powerman and The Money Go Round, Part 1', is their eighth studio album released in 1970 as a concept album. It contained two hit singles: "Lola" which reached the top 10 in the US and in the UK, and "Apeman" which peaked at #5 in the UK. Ray Davies had bitter feelings toward the music industry, and this album's theme takes a sarcastic look at it's various sides; ex-managers, accountants, press releases, publishers, and unions. Plans for the 'Part 2' sequel album were scrapped. The gatefold cover containing lyrics on the inside are printed in blue ink, it has a front lower left corner cut, and is in very good+ condition.
