auctioning these and other stuff for Motor Neurones Disease Association which has affected my friend Snowy. Have a look and see what I'm auctioning.
here's his story
This is the story of Snowy
Our fine friend, Steve ‘Snowy’ Watson – a funny, intelligent, capable, generous, helpful, inventive, talented (not to mention mischievous, mickey-taking, sometimes infuriating and bloody stubborn) man, who has touched the lives of so many of us in unforgettable, inimitable ways.
Steve was cruelly diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in 2017.
MND describes a group of diseases that affect the nerves (motor neurones) in the brain and spinal cord that instruct your muscles what to do. With MND, messages from these nerves gradually stop reaching the muscles, leading them to weaken, stiffen and waste. There is no cure.
It has taken our formerly fit, able, strong friend from an active, prosperous and rewarding life and has gradually eliminated his ability to move, breathe unaided, or perform the most basic tasks that most of us take for granted. Steve is now in a wheelchair and relies on a ventilator to breathe, requiring 24 hour care at his home in Bradmore, Wolverhampton. Steve’s wife, Chris, is constantly at his side and the devastating impact of this disease has been felt almost as acutely by her, as she selflessly devotes herself to Steve’s every need.
Though Steve’s response to contracting this disease has been incredibly positive, inspirational & truly courageous – he is still as mischievous as ever and still, amazingly, manages to adopt humour at every opportunity – he needs support from as many sources as possible.
Since his diagnosis, Steve has received much help – advisory, financial and practical - from the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA). The MNDA is a British charity, operating in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, established in 1979 by a group of volunteers to coordinate care, support, and research for people affected by this terrible disease. Since it is a charity, it relies heavily on volunteers and donations in order to operate. You can find out more here: www.mndassociation.org/.
The disease has also left all of us who know Steve feeling helpless, desperately wanting to, but not being able to help ease his suffering and bring some pleasure to his days.
