An original STEREO 1st Press of Axis : Bold As Love on UK Track from 1967. Matrix A1/B1. The vinyl on early copies is significantly heavier than later copies - 160/170 grams. The vinyl comes housed in an Ernest J Day cover with exposed flipbacks. We also have the original orange lyric insert and a 'plastic bag warning' inner from this period. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex+) In superb condition and has only seen light careful use down it's 50 year-life. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of very light marks either side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. You can really feel and hear the quality in these early pressings. The audio quality is really as good as you could possibly hope for whether it's the wailing Strat, or some low-key percussion - a very impressive rendition. Interference is very minor indeed. In fact, really the only vaguely noticeable interference are a few crackles in the opening moments of each side - e.g. the spoken dialogue at the start of side 1. And even this is very minor and quickly dissipates as soon any actual music kicks in. A fantastic rendition by any measure and coming from an early '67 press, not an easy find.
Cover (Ex) In great shape and has clearly been looked after down the years. Front and back are nice and shiny without creasing or ageing. There are a couple of minute pinholes at the extreme edge of two corners on the rear - they do not show at all from the interior. The interior is pretty much immaculate - no hidden stains or scuffing. Flipbacks are all intact and secure. Edge wear is pretty light and the spine is good too, far better than most that surface. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and it remains a mighty impressive example.
Insert (Vg+) Fully intact with the usual fold down the centre. A couple of tape residue marks in the extreme top left and right. But no other issues.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing, no edge splits, one tape repair to inner circle.
