Original 1st US Reprise Records pressing of The Jimi Hendrix Experience’s debut album “Are Your Experienced?” released on May 12, 1967. This copy is the true 1st US Mono pressing with the early matrix numbers in the runout grooves. The US version of the album contains a slightly different track selection from the UK version featuring “Hey Joe”, “Purple Haze” and “The Wind Cries Mary” instead of “Remember”, “Red House” and “Can You See Me”, which are present on the UK version. Original 1st print psychedelic cover with a Karl Ferris infra-red fish-eye lens photo. The back cover contains the number “4” at the bottom right corner identifying that the cover was printed by Imperial Packing Co., Inc in Indiana. Original 1st print Reprise Records tri-tone steamboat logo label with the 2.69” pressing ring and “R-6261” catalog number. The vinyl was pressed by the Columbia Records, Pitman, NJ plant and mastered by Customatrix, a subsidiary of Columbia Records, as identified by the “P” and small “o” symbol in the runout grooves. The full matrix numbers of this 1st pressing are as follows: Side 1: P o 10681 R-6261-A 1-D 1 C5; Side 2: o P 10682 R-6261-B o 1-E 1 B2. The album comes with the original Reprise Records “To Play and Play Again!” inner sleeve with the adverts for the other Reprise releases.

The Mono cover remaining in the original shrink wrap is in beautiful Near Mint condition, practically Mint Minus. We grade the vinyl as somewhere between Strong Very Good Plus and Excellent Minus. It retains its marvelous glossy factory lacquer only having a few very light non-feelable surface hairlines and marks as well as very light scuffs from the original inner sleeve which is in Near Mint condition and doesn’t have any splits or tears. The tri-tone labels are very clean and in Near Mint Minus condition, scuff- and wear-free, only having a couple of very light spindle marks which are barely visible even under a strong light. The vinyl sounds amazing with just some very light occasional static which most likely will go away if the record is professionally cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine.
