Any Classic Rock enthusiast will acknowledge: Jimi Hendrix's debut album "Are You Experienced?" needs no introduction. Groundbreaking upon its release, this album catapulted Hendrix, Noel Redding, and Mitch Mitchell into international stardom, gaining recognition for Hendrix's creative use of the guitar and special effects in a time when psychedelic rock was at the pinnacle of its popularity and it was hard to truly stand out. Critics can easily attest to the fact that this album is among the most well produced pieces of music in history. When it comes to this particular pressing, it is among the most sought after.
This original 1967 pressing is a tri-color Reprise Label survivor. Being close to a half century old, it isn't in perfect shape, but it is in remarkable condition when you consider its age. The vinyl is in near mint condition with no scratches. When you play the record, it's like stepping back in time. The sound is incredibly warm, with no crackling or playback issues whatsoever. Also take note that this is a R-6261 mono pressing; most audiophiles will agree that a mono pressing has a more desirable sound.
Regarding the cover, I would grade it EX. It's in great shape, with some minor creases at a couple of the corners. The inner sleeve jacket I suppose is open to interpretation, since you can see the outline of where the vinyl has been stored in it for many years. I would grade it VG+ to EX, since there are no tears and the aforementioned outline I consider to be a minor flaw.
