*please note that I have not enhanced the sound quality in any way ... what you hear is exactly how it plays on my turntable, using a standard Audio Technica cartridge.
Cover: VG
Please don't let the VG grade fool you ...this is a very solid cover with no seams splits or wear to the spine. The back cover is still nice and white and isn't even slighty discolored. There is some minor ringwear and a few light creases on the front cover. There is also some wear on the left-hand side of the front (by the opening). It appears to have been bumped at one point in time and there is a spot where some of the cover art is coming up from the cardboard backing. I must stress that the cardboard backing is NOT ripped ... just a small section of the cover art. (Please click on the links below to see it in more detail). There is no writing or tape on this cover.
Record: NM-/VG+
Side one is in wonderful shape. There are only a few light surface marks (mostly likely from sliding it in and out of it's paper sleeve) and a few very light scuff marks. These appear to be entirely superficial. Side two is nearly as nice, but has a few more light "hairline" surface marks than Side one. The vinyl on both sides is jet black and glossy, and there are only a very few marks by the spindle hole ... this has obviously not been played very much. Comes with it's original inner sleeve advertising other Imperial releases.
Special info : This is an original mono first pressing of the Hollies' first US LP. It is one of the hardest Hollies LPs to find, as they really weren't very popular in America until 1966 when the hit single "Bus Stop" was released. By that time, Imperial had changed label designs twice, making the original 1964 "Stars and Rays" Imperial label pressing of this LP nearly impossible to find. Most collectors prefer the mono version of this LP over the stereo version, as the stereo version contains "electronically rechanneled" versions of some of the tracks.

Grading
(all grading is done visually unless stated otherwise):
NM record will have no scratches, scuffs, or groovewear. Jacket will have no creases, wear to the edges, fading, rubbing, or ringwear.
NM- record may have a few extra light surface scratches from being taken out of it's sleeve, but not many. No deep scratches or groovewear. Jacket might have a small crease or a tiny bit of wear to the seems. No ringwear or staining.
VG+ record will have some surface scratches, but nothing deep. It will still have most if not all of it's original gloss. Jacket might have a few minor split seams or other minor blemishes, but will still be solid and presentable. My VG+ is usually equivilent to the European "EX" grade.
VG record will probably have quite a few surface scratches and maybe a couple deeper ones, but nothing that would cause a skip. It will still have most of it's gloss, but might have minor groovewear. Jacket will probably have split seams and some more noticeable blemishes, but will still look decent.
VG- record will have many surface scratches and maybe several deeper ones. It might have some noticeable groovewear, but should still be playable. Jacket will be a little flimsy and have some obvious flaws, but won't be trashed.
G record and jacket will be pretty well beat (at least, from a collector's viewpoint). Filler copy only.
*a note on my grading - as a record collector, I have been disappointed many times by sellers who overgrade their albums in the hopes of making them appear more desirable than they actually are. I just want you to know that I grade more conservatively than about 90% of the people I have purchased records from on ebay, so I am fairly certain that you won't be disappointed.
