Description

The Groundhogs Blues Obituary Rare SIGNED Copy Liberty Black Label 1970 EX/VG

Very Rare opportunity to acquire a Signed original copy of Blues Obituary by Groundhogs.

I recently purchased a large collection of rock vinyl (some for myself, some which I am in the process of listing here) from a gentleman who had run a record shop in Felixstowe during the 1970s. When he closed the shop in the early 80s he kept his entire stock, correctly stored and untouched until this year when he decided to downsize and move on some of his collection. I asked him if he knew anything about this particular signed copy and he said he had a regular customer who was a big Groundhogs fan so was sure the record would have been signed when the band were playing locally - probably at the Gaumont in Ipswich in the early 1970s - before he subsequently bought it off the customer. So not 100% authentication but I have absolutely no reason to doubt him. The rest of the collection that I bought is also like a time capsule, no other signed records sadly, but all dating from the late 60s to the early 80s and all clearly shop quality stock. As this one is...

Artist: Groundhogs
Title: Blues Obituary

Catalogue Number: LBS 83253

Label: Liberty Records

Country of manufacture: England

Released: 1970

This is the 1970 repress (album first issued 1969) with the black Liberty labels.

Matrix Numbers:

Side A: LBS 83253 A - 1
Side B: LBS 83253 B - 1

Condition:

Media: EX lovely, just a few very light marks (not scratches), superb considering its age. Centre labels (more so Side A) are a bit 'smudged 'and have a few little marks around the spindle hole.

Sleeve: VG+ Light ringwear. A bit of laminate lift on either side of the spine (more noticeable on the rear cover); the sleeve has a pinched spine top and bottom which is probably what has caused the laminate to lift a bit. About half a dozen little indents/marks to the spine, but all lettering on the spine is nice and clearly readable.

The front cover bears the signatures of all 3 original band members: Tony McPhee, Pete Cruickshank and Ken Pustelnik. The Tony McPhee signature is a little bit faded but all there, the other two are nice and clear.

Precious owners name is also written quite faintly to top left corner of front cover.

Inner sleeve is plain and is a bit creased towards the bottom.

Please study pictures as these form part of the description. Thank you.

Clearly this record has been cherished. And is now a superb item for a Groundhogs fan or collector.

Shipping will be via Royal Mail Special Delivery.

If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch.

Thank you very much for looking at my listing. As I say, I will be listing more 60s and 70s rock vinyl in the coming weeks.
