Description
This is the original Sneakers 10” Mini Album (1968 USA only - catalog # R-2371). It was self produced, financed and released by the Flamin’ Groovies. It was recorded on a 4 track tape recorder and mixed in about 8 hours . According to the werkelin.se music site they pressed 2000 copies and released the Mini Album on their own independent label “Snazz Records”. So even in 1968 this record was a rarity since it pre dates the popularity of independent labels by about 10 years. It was for sale in a handful of record stores and was also used as a demo to introduce the band to major record labels. It got them a contract with Epic Records.
The EP is in VG condition. The cover is a bit yellowed around the edges with very minor shelf wear. See Scans
Side One: Has a minor light surface scratch across track 4 “My Yada” that continues in two spots on track 3 “Lovetime”. It is not so deep and does not cause a rhythmic pop as the songs play. There are also minor imperfections in the vinyl pressing and use marks from removal and insertion of the record causing random pops and clicks here and there. This record was sold without a record sleeve.
