Description
Welcome to my Music Store !
This Auction listing is for a fabulous 12 inch vinyl LP by the Elgins, a very popular Motown group from the 60s and early 70s.
The Album is called Darling Baby
Catalogue Number STML 11081
This is a Stereo Album. The earlier Elgins' Darling Baby Album released in the UK in 1966 was Mono.
This Album is from 1968 and features the following tracks:
Side A Darling Baby In The Midnight Hour Heaven Must Have Sent You I Understand My Man Good Lovin' It's Gonna Be Hard Times
Side B Put Yourself In My Place 634-5789 No Time For Tears How Sweet It Is (to be Loved By You Stay In My Lonely Arms When A Man Loves A Woman
This vinyl record does have some slight marks, please do read my description thoroughly before bidding. All the information is from actually playing and listening to the record - not just visually grading it.
Side 1 has several visible surface marks The only track which did pop a little bit on play was track 4, but this was only at the early stage of the song. The other marks do not seem to have affected play at all.
Side 2 has one long but light hairline surface mark, & a couple of small ones, which are not any problem.
I have listened to each track and I was happy that nothing affected the play on side 2.
I have graded the Album Very Good with a tentative plus.
The outer sleeve is in good condition. It is probably better than that, but I have graded it strictly.
The back of the sleeve is a little bit yellowed rather than being white but after all, this album is 49 years old. There is a small stain which could be tea etc.
The front of the record sleeve is laminated and there are creases near to the edges, which is normally seen on album covers from the 60s. You can see the imprint circular outline of the record, as you can with most albums of this age. Some of the lamination is rubbed and not glossy all over. This is mainly in the centre.
Having said all this, the album plays very well indeed and is probably worthy of a higher grade than VG+.
Grading
I am guided by the Rare Record Guide matrix for condition of records but I also listen to all vinyl records before listing them for sale.
