The Eldorados-Crazy Little Mama (1981 German reissue 12” Vinyl LP Compilation album on Strand 6.24972 AS) The Eldorados formed in 1952, when the average age of high school undergrads Pirkle Lee Moses Jr., Louis Bradley, James Maddox, Jewel Jones and Richard Nickens was 15. After successfully auditioning for VEE-JAY Records, the group was signed to a contract on 6/1/54 and their name changed by that company to Eldorados.

Their first studio effort was "My Loving Baby" (from 6/30/54), the flip of "Baby I Need You." This debut single enjoyed success in Chicago and did well enough regionally to assure the boys future success. "At My Front Door," an upbeat track with a nice natural echo, helped to make the group a popular "live" attraction all over North America. This 1955 song was also VEE-JAY's first ever to register on the national Pop charts.

"Annie's Answer" is a novelty inspired by Hank Ballard's "Work With Me, Annie" that claims the lady in question never wanted or had a baby. "There In the Night" is a balladic dance floor grinder that includes narration. "Now That You've Gone" is predictably melancholy, with tinkling piano runs behind quietly crooning vocal backing. "A Fallen Tear" is another teen tearjerker.

"Rock 'N' Roll's For Me" is a rollicking novelty that features energetic guitar and tenor sax solos in the break. "I'll Be Forever Loving You" is a swinging track that was a nationwide hit on both the Pop and R&B charts. "I Began To Realize" is an emotional ballad set in a chapel.

Includes 2 songs by a quintet called The Magnificents. Their most prominent member was L.C. Cooke, Sam's brother (and composer of "You Send Me"). "Caddy Bo" features Barbara Arrington, who sings of undying love for a weird guy who's also a cad. "Up On the Mountain" has the Magnificents in classic upbeat doowop mode, with a prominent bass singer and foot-tapping rhythm. Superb copy with Vinyl and sleeve in excellent condition.

The record has been played many times but shows no significant deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks. Sleeve has normal wear and tear without any major defects.

The record has been played enough that the sound quality has deteriorated noticeably and may have pops and skips. The sleeve may suffer from scuffs, spine splits, ring wear and/or discolouration.
