Description
This listing is for an original UK mono pressing of the Doors 1967 second album, Strange Days.
Sleeve
- Sleeve is fully laminated
- No evidence of the laminate lifting anywhere
- It does betray signs of age - general surface dulling when held up to the light
- Very slight evidence of ring wear when held up to the light
- Overall, I'd rate this as very good
Inner Sleeve
- Original inner; side loading
- In one piece but creased - see picture
- Top right edge has come unglued but this can be easily remedied
- No rips or tears, other than bottom showing signs of breakage as a result of LP storage - see picture
- LP is stored in a separate paper inner
Record
- Some evidence of spindle wear on both labels
- Label shows "Polydor Records" at six o'clock which Record Collector reports as indicating that this is the second of two UK mono pressings (first had Elektra Records on the label)
- No evidence of surface scratches or marks
- Played back on a Pro-ject deck with Rega amp reveals no surface interference at all; this sounds absolutely fabulous!
The sound on playback is terrific - the mono mix packs more punch than the standard stereo and not only that, the vinyl playback gives a more satisfying experience than that of the CD. For instance, on My Eyes Have Seen You you can fully detect the background "Aaahs" in the intro and the guitar solo simply rips through the song.
Great example of this rare and hard to find record.
