Description
This is the original 1967 UK Mono issue of their second album, with the large 'E' orange & black Elektra second version labels with the 'Campbell Connelly' music credits, the EKS-74014 on the spine of the cover and the earliest A-1 B-1 matrices, with A-14/A-10 stampers of the first presses.
The second album from The Doors was recorded during touring to promote their first album between May to August 1967. It was produced by Paul Rothschild & Bruce Botnick at Sunset Sound Recorders in Hollywood and released in the UK in October 1967. The band was touring for much of 1967 and after a slow start the album finally made number 3 in the USA in November and spent 10 months in the charts. The Mono release of the album was dropped early in the following year and it was the worst selling album of their career as a working band. This was much to the band members chagrin, being Jim Morrisons favourite. Similarly, it never sold well in the UK either and did not make the UK charts at the time, although by the 1970's it finally went gold!!.
Overall, still a really great, loud & clear listen.
The matrix nos. are; EKS-4014, A-1 stamper A-14, B-1 stamper A-10. This is one of the early copies of the first pressing of the original 1967 UK mono issue of this album!
