Vinyl:
This is the original UK 1st press release of LA Woman with the new Elektra butterfly labels. The LP looks virtually MINT and plays AS NEW! There are NO visible spindle marks on the labels and it really hasn’t been played often. The vinyl has a lovely deep black sheen, with some barely visible surface marks when held up to the light. And the sound is fantastic! It plays beautifully ALL the way through. There are NO scratches, NO surface noise and NO distortion from wear. Quiet passages (and there are several on this album, e.g. Riders On The Storm) are just that - quiet! And the loud stuff is fully present with great power and clarity and separation between instruments. The sound is simply superb! This is a genuinely rare 1st pressing in this condition - A1 (Side 1) and B1 (Side 2) stamped by the run-off grooves. To me, this is a final upgrade, as I cannot imagine listening to a better copy.
Labels:
These are the original Elektra butterfly labels, newly introduced. They are in MINT clean condition with NO visible spindle marks.
Sleeve:
The original Shorepak see-through 'Window' sleeve with the embossed 'Doors' name and rounded corners is in genuinely EXCELLENT condition showing very little of the wear associated with handling and shelving and ageing. There are no corner dents, and the spine is perfect with no creases. The cover is clean and clear on both sides with just one minor crease to the right of the window, where there is also a small white tear, also minor. Just above the window to the right there is a small patch where the colour has rubbed off a little. But there is no other wear, and the rich deep maroon colour has not faded at all! This sleeve looks fantastic given that it is 39 years old!
Inner sleeve:
This is the original yellow 'Crucifix' thick paper inner in NEAR MINT undamaged condition. There is NO wear or colour fading at all.
Final verdict:
A genuinely superb 1st press top copy and final upgrade for any Doors/rock fan.
