Incredibly rare dj white label promo copy of The Doors' 'LA Woman' Lp. Officially released by Elektra Records ( EKS-75011) in April of 1971, this promo radio station copy was certainly made available before that date and fortunately by the looks of it, not played too often. I find this is one of hardest titles to find (as a 1st pressing) in decent playing condition in the entire Doors catalog. I don't know why. It just seems that the quality of the vinyl and pressing significantly changed for the worse with this album. First pressings of this album are often found warped, thinly and unevenly pressed, and suffer from surface noise. Thankfully, the copy I'm offering is a far...FAR better example than the majority of the vintage pressings out there. In fact, you'd have a very hard time finding a promo radio station copy in better condition.
Cover: Excellent (minus) .....first issue jackets for LA Woman are quite striking but were delicately made; and due to the type of card stock used to construct it, were easily prone to ring and edge wear. That said, the wear found on this copy belies it's 48 years....and the fact that it comes from a DJ's collection makes it even more remarkable. Yes, there is evidence of some edge wear, rubbing and so on....but it is fairly minor compared to other vintage copies I've come across. The acetate printed "window" is nearly perfect as is the spine. Official fuchsia/black Elektra Records Promo sticker at top right of cover. Take a good look at the photos.
Original printed Inner-Sleeve: Excellent (minus) ....2 inoffensive seam splits but still overall very nice. A high quality rice paper audiophile inner will be included to house the precious record.
Record: Excellent (+/-) .....nice gloss to both sides. Most of the songs play full excellent while several play even above this grade. Both labels are near-perfect and show only minor evidence of foxing. Superb and detailed audio from start to finish with only very brief moments of imperfection. A beautiful example and one that would be hard to upgrade.
