The Deviants - Ptooff! LP PSYCHO16 (Psycho, UK, 1983)
Reissue Of 1968 Underground Impressarios LP with replica fold out sleeve. Stereo.
The Deviants, led by the late Mick Farren, are almost written out of British rock history because their militant counterculturalism is out of step with the rather fey and fashionable image of swingin' sixties London.. Operating musically and artistically in the space somewhere between The Mothers Of Invention, The Fugs and The Pretty Things - the Deviants 'Ptooff!', their debut album, originally issued via mail order through London's underground press - is an avant-anarcho punk statement of intent, a call-to-arms to create, be different and to fight the powers that be. A benchmark record in the history of both British Psychedelia and Punk. To boot, it's worth mentioning the sleeve - a huge fold-out comic-book poster (a la Lichtenstein pastiche), designed by Kipps aka Pete Broxton.
Condition (I Grade NM / EX / VG+ / VG / VG- / G / F)
Sleeve - (CONDITION) VG+ The fold out poster sleeve still looks great. There is some creasing and a bit of cornerwear - but no tearing, writing or obviously noticeable defects. There is a storage index sticker attached in one place.
Record - (CONDITION) VG+ - The record has some scratches and scuffs, and the labels have a bit of wear but none affect play conspicuously, other than light surface noise/crackle in places. There's what appears to be some grit in the vinyl on side two, but it doesn't seem to cause any untoward sound. There is a slight click at the very end of side one. Sounds great! Some residue from a previous clean, so a fresh clean would probably help.
Who wants this? By it's vintage, this reissue is all analog, whilst i suspect that many of the more recent reissues are probably digitally sourced. Original/ Decca / Sire copies in decent condition are very pricey, so this is a great alternative. It plays well and the cover looks great!

- I love records, too! I package all records in proper mailers with stiffeners. Books are packaged in cardboard.
- I PLAY GRADE virtually all of my items, as well as looking visually. Always read the description. It will normally tell you what you need to know.
- I remove records from their outer sleeves to avoid splitting. All records are packed in a plastic sleeve for extra protection.
