Description

This is the extremely rare first release (Red Label) of The Def Leppard 7in E.P. released January 1979 (SRTS/78/CUS 232).

This was the first proper release by the band, self financed, with loans from friends and family helping towards recording and vinyl pressing costs.  The recording took place over 2 days at Fairview Studios Hull, UK, in November 1978.  Only 1000 copies of this first original red label release were produced.  This was a seminal moment in the early history of Def Leppard and has become a very rare and desirable collectable for fans.

Also included is a def leppard headed letter to a mr briggs, signed by cindy elliot (joes mum), but dated 97, i believe it should be 79 and is just a mistake, the letter appears period correct in every other way and could be verified if wanted ?, a very rare added extra to this record, a must for the serious collector. on the website 'the def leppard vault' there is a collection by david church 'show us yours' , and is a section titled 'the holy grail' where there is an image of the similar headed letter / record there.

The iconic picture sleeve is in very good condition, very clean with secure glued edges, there is a very small tear to the top edge (pictured)

No lyrics insert.

The vinyl itself is untested (no record player to test it), loft find but in great shape, visually no scratches etc and appears unused, just needs a wipe, see pictures as part of the description
