THE CURFEW TOWER
The album features works by Alan Dunn, Jinx Lennon,Sophie Coyle, Point5 (Thorpe/Woodward), CLINIC, Daniel Simpkins/PennyWhitehead, Damon Fairclough, Jeff Young, Paul Simpson, Easterjack,SINGERSONGWRITER, Ex Easter Island Head (Duvall/Morrison), LiamO'Callaghan, Paul Sullivan and Tenzing Scott Brown.
There are only 250 copies of this album in existence.Each album has a unique front cover artwork designed by the residency artists.This cover is designed by Ex Easter Island Head.
On the rear of the album there is the hand written limitededition number, the date and time of assembly and the artists signature. Eachalbum has two inserts: 1 – Sleeve notes and 2 – Project description.
In late 2011, Static Gallery were invited by BillDrummond to curate The Curfew Tower residency and art project, Cushendall,Antrim for 2012.
Normally the residency asks visual artists to makework that is then presented to the people of Cushendall the following Augustfor them to select their favourite artwork.
Static decided to alter this convention byincarcerating the previous 13 years worth of artworks in the ground floorprison cell and to leave each new resident with an empty space, a Tascam 4track cassette machine for company and an instruction to make a fieldrecording.
The Curfew Tower album is the result of thoserecordings.
