The Creation – Making Time 1966 UK Planet PLF.116 7" 45rpm Mono, Rock, Psych
The Creation were a UK freakbeat and garage rock group, formed in 1966 and disbanded in 1968, but re-formed in the mid-'80s. One of their best-known songs is "Making Time", which was one of the first rock songs to feature a guitar played with a bow! Currently being heard as the theme song from Season 2 onwards of BBC series The Great Pottery Throw Down. Creation biographer Sean Egan defined their style as "a unique hybrid of pop, rock, psychedelia and the avant garde.
The age appropriate, but probably not the original, white paper generic sleeve is undamaged. There is minimal age-related handling and fading. Graded as VG.
The vinyl easily and conservatively grades as VG+. It has been played. The Planet three prong push out centre does not show clear spindle marks on either side but this is likely due to the printed black and white labels which would make them difficult to see. There is however some damage to the label around the spindle hole on Side A (see pictures). Apart from this the labels are reasonably clean and undamaged. Despite the fact that it has been played there are no obvious scratches that can be felt. There are some light scuffs and a hairline or two on both sides. On play grading there was naturally a little static crackle on the run in and run out on both sides and no, or minimal, deterioration in the audio - certainly nothing which impacts on sound quality and therefore enjoyment of the record. There are a couple of pops at the end of Side B. The surface on both sides is still clean and shiny. It would be difficult to find a better copy of this 57 year old record.
