Description
A couple of years back, over a couple of fun trips, I bought a huge vinyl collection from a friend who worked with me at Phantom Records (in the '90's) and who'd amassed a gigantic collection of wonderfully kept and thoroughly researched LP's, 7"s and relevant 12"s - from the classic punk era (1976-1981) was his specialty, but also records from the few years after that era, as some of those bands progressed into the mid-'80's while keeping their integrity intact (the likes of Public Image, Siouxsie, the Cure spring to mind). To give you an example of his fastidiousness, his collection included 60 different editions of the Pistols "Never Mind The Bollocks" LP - from every conceivable country, and every edition he could uncover. Anyway, he's been particular about maintaining items in their original condition - most he bought brand new at the time...(however this may mean that some he picked up second-hand weren't exactly mint to start with - those will be obvious by the gradings below). He'd been buying records I believe from about 1975/76 right up until recently. It's a truly wonderful collection; he'd not sold any of it previously so it was complete - some of the items are super rare and some are simply very nice copies of classic records - and I felt utterly privileged to be offered it first. Mostly though, YOU get to benefit from his meticulousness.

ORIGINAL FIRST PRESSING?: Close...it has the very first label design (see #1 below)...the design was changed 4 more times...(see below), but uses a second 'cut' of the 'A' side...the first had A-1/B-1 matrix numbers...and this is A-2/B-1...(see further below)...back cover has long straight cut-out lip with sharp 45 degree edges NOT the later curved lip...

#1) band name written 'The Clash’; publisher credits to 'Copyright Control',... 'original sound recording made by CBS Records’ written on the same line/one line;
2) same as label 1, but 'original sound recording made by CBS Records’ written on two lines;
3) band name written 'The Clash’; publisher credits to 'Nineden Ltd./Riva Music Ltd.';
4) band name written 'the CLASH’; publisher credits to 'Nineden Ltd./Riva Music Ltd.';
5) band name written 'The Clash’; publisher credits to 'Nineden Ltd./Riva Music Ltd.'; 'original sound recording made by CBS Records’ written on two lines; also has 'LC 0149' above catalogue number;
Matrix details in the run-off grooves...(hand-etched):

CONDITION:
COVER: ( M- )...beautiful!...
VINYL: ( EX- )...has that 'cloudy' look like some vinyl attains over a period of time...does not affect play!...and apart from that, just has two ineffective marks only...plays mint...
LABELS: (Side One: M- / Side Two: MINT )...
