Description
Up for Sale is a VERY RARE early Radio Promo of this 50yr cult classic Byrds album from 1968 called Sweetheart of the Rodeo! I was fortunate enough, about 18 months ago to see/hear in person Mr. Roger Mcguinn & Mr. Chris Hillman and Co. perform this entire album live along with other classic songs.
Since this is a Rare Promo edition of this album, that means it's one of the very first copies to be pressed and sent to the radio station to promote the album upon it being released to the public in stores at the time.
The Cover I will rate at best a VG.I say that because there is a scratch along the front right hand side, that is visible, along with two scratches to the big white promo label that runs along the bottom of the front cover, also visible.Along with the usual corner wear and wear along all sides around the cover from being 52 years old. With all that said, the cover does not have any serious rips, tears, hole punches or splits which is a good thing.
The Lp itself I will rate somewhere between a VG and maybe a VG-/+. The album thankfully plays better than it looks, when really inspecting both Sides super close up,if that makes any sense.Using an ultra thin hospital glove, running my finger over both Sides and not feeling any super deep scratches was also a good sign.Yes,there are surface scratches, but that is expected, again, from this album being over 50 yrs. old. The album plays all the way through without any skips but could use a nice cleaning to help lessen the crackles heard during super quiet parts of the album.I just listened to this enitre record and Side 1,Song 3 The Christian Life for about the 1st 3rd has a slight to medium pop, nothing that will knock the needle off.Everything else on Side 1 and the rest of Side 2 is basic light crackle, which is expected from a 50+yrs old Promo album. My turntable is a very forgiving table if that helps any.I have a 1978 Technics SL-B2 belt driven table, with basic speaker wire,2 DCM bookshelf speakers and 2 Floor DCM speakers played through a 2005 Harmon Kardon Receiver.
