Description
The Buzz - You're Holding Me Down b/w I've Gotta Buzz on Columbia DB 7887. An amazingly rare piece of vinyl from the stable of Joe Meek. Issued in 1966, it comes across as one of the wildest freakbeat efforts ever to emanate from his studio, featuring just about every trick in the book and a few kitchen sinks thrown in for good measure. This Meeksville recording is now one of the hardest of his productions to find and doesn't seem to surface very often on any record sites.
I will rate this record at VG, just to err on the conservative side, although sound quality and overall condition is pretty good. There's very little in the way of background noise, although there's so much production in this record that you could hide the sound of Concorde taking off and not be aware of it. There's no major defect, no nasty scratches, no skips or jumps, just a couple of tiny (I mean tiny) light clicks that are not all that loud and don't affect the overall sound. The A side label has 2 small marks where the previous owner has probably removed a sticker or something similar, but again, these are not that big and are minor blemishes. The B side label is excellent, as is the vinyl.
I have tried to be as accurate as possible in my description of this mega-rarity and would not wish anybody to bid on this item if they are not entirely satisfied that it is what they want. If you are genuinely interested in bidding, contact me via email and I will forward a full-length mp3 file so that you can hear for yourself just how good this sounds. I can also forward larger scans of both sides if required.
Reserve price is set at a reasonable level for what is one of the rarest Meek sounds around.
