Description
RARE COPY FROM THE ESTATE OF A LIFETIME RECORD COLLECTOR IN FLORIDA. This particular copy of "The Buddy Holly Story" is marked CRL 57279 on a Blue Coral Label. It is marked on the label bottom "SAMPLE COPY - NOT FOR SALE". Inscribed on the vinyl on the inner ring is MG6950T2. Not being a record collector myself, I consulted my brother who is. He has seen copies of other albums marked Promotional copy but not SAMPLE COPY. The record is in good condition with light scratches on the surface. We did play it and the sound quality was wonderful. The album cover is torn top and bottom along the spine as pictured here. My goal is to get this into the hands of a collector who will value it. When I purchased this album it had a sticky note attached to it putting a current value on it of $550.00 several years ago. It had been stored for years and years prior to his passing. In trying to be fair, I have listed this as a Buy it Now Price based on a weaker economy and the overall condition of the album. P.S. Learned that this particular record lists for $700.00 if MINT and $500.00 for VG+ in the Goldmine Price Guide to Collectible Records (Fifth Edition). A collector of vinyl furnished me with the information. He did say that the spindle hole showed some wear and he valued the record at $250.00. He said it was a good buy at that price. I am not changing my listing as I want to get it into the hands of someone who will appreciate it.
