In this auction:

·       “THE BEATLES/THE COLLECTION” BOX LP SET by THE BEATLES

·       This is a BOX SET of 13 LP TITLES (14 DISCS) of the BRITISH LP CATALOG that was issued in September, 1982 by Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (MFSL).

·       The 14 studio LP discs in this box set are Half-Speed Master Recordings.

·       “The Collection” Box Set was praised by critics and Beatles fans worldwide for its superb sound quality.

·       I read on line that this BOX SET was a LIMITED EDITION OF ONLY 25,000 and quickly sold-out.

·       THE BOX SET IN THIS AUCTION HAS THE AMAZINGLY LOW NUMBER OF 146.

·       The process for the production of the discs included using the master tapes and then utilizing "half-speed" mastering of the laquers. This was then pressed onto “super vinyl” when sent by the MFSL headquarters in California to the Yokohama factory of the Victor Company of Japan to fabricate the metal masters and the press the records.

·       The original LP album covers were replaced with photographs of tape boxes and log sheets; however, the original album covers, front and rear, were pictured in a 38-page booklet which also featured a certificate of authenticity, as this was a limited edition collection.

·       “THE BEATLES/THE COLLECTION” BOX SET includes the following:

- 13 Remastered Audiophile Vinyl LP Titles (14 discs)

- A 38-Page Booklet Picturing the Original LP Covers’ Artwork (of both front and rear LP covers) incorporating a Hand-Numbered “Certificate of Authenticity” with the Limited Edition Number hand-written (which is 146 for this box set)

- A “Certificate of Limited Warranty” Card

- A GEO DISC Alignment Tool in its Cover

·       Each of the vinyl discs are housed in rice paper protective inner sleeves, inserted into posterboard gatefold inner-protector sleeves which then insert into the appropriate MFSL Custom Covers.

·       Each LP Cover features a photograph on each side showing the master tape of the A and B sides for that particular LP recording and includes the dates when the recording took place.

·       All of the vinyl discs have custom white MFSL labels.

·       “The Beatles/The Collection” BLACK BOX is in NEAR MINT CONDITION. The front opening clasp/latch and hinges are not tarnished, and the clasp/latch has only very slight wear. The only thing to note about the box is that the front doors to the box do not close exactly flush/even when the box is standing vertically creating a small uneven space between the top of the doors and the box. (Please refer to image of top of box showing the front doors closed). This may be a manufacturing/production issue with the box. The LP covers seem to protrude very slightly when the box is in a vertical position, however, when the box is in a prone position on its back, the LPs seem to rest in a position where the front doors are evenly closed (with NO uneven space on the top). The clasp/latch works fine with closing/securing the doors.

·       The LP COVERS are in NEAR MINT CONDITION. Most have a bit of very light/slight wear on the corners at top and bottom of their spines probably due to contact with the inside of the front doors to the box. All rice paper inner sleeves and protective gatefold inner sleeves are included.  

·       ALL of the VINYL is in NEAR MINT to MINT CONDITION and appears to be unplayed. There are NO MARKS on the VINYL and NO SPINDLE TRAILS on any of the labels.

·       The BOOKLET PICTURING THE ORIGINAL LP COVERS is NEAR MINT.

·       The GEO DISC is INCLUDED.

·       Also included is the ORIGINAL MFSL CARDBOARD SHIPPING BOX which is in GOOD CONDITION. The MFSL sealing tape can be seen on one end, but it is missing on the other end. One side of the box has a 9-inch x 6-inch sheet of blank paper pasted on it. There are 8 styrofoam corners and some padded wrapping that covers the black box containing the LPs, but this is not the original styrofoam corners and packing materials.

FYI: For grading I used the COVER/SLEEVE GRADES and RECORD GRADES listed and described on page 8 of the Price Guide for the Beatles American Records. These are Poor (PR), Fair (FR), Good Minus (G-), Good (G), Good Plus (G+), Very Good Minus (VG-), Very Good (VG), Very Good+ (VG+), Near Mint Minus or Very Good++ (NM- or VG++), Near Mint (NM), Mint Minus (M-), and Mint (M or MT) to VISUALLY grade this item, so please know the descriptions of these grades before bidding. Please ask any questions BEFORE bidding. NOTE: I don’t often place reserves on the items I auction and only use reserves on rare or high-dollar items from my own collection. There is a reasonable reserve on this box set due to its VERY NICE CONDITION, and, especially, due to its EXTREMELY LOW EDITION NUMBER of 146.  Winning bidder must remit payment within 5 days of auction close by PayPal.
