The Beatles-Rubber Soul (Loud Cut)

Parlophone PMC1267

Side 1 matrix:XEX579-1 (The Mother is C) The Stamper is PR
Side 2 matrix:XEX580-1 (The Mother is 3) The Stamper is RT

It is accepted practice that Parlophone placed the stampers at 9O degrees( from the top of the label) the matrix details bottom center of the label (180 degrees) with the Mother Number at 270 degrees.
 On side two of this record the label is the correct way up but all the above information is  reversed and upside down so the the matrix is at the top of the label instead of the bottom, the mother and stampers are also reversed and upside down when viewing the label correctly.
I have sold hundreds of Beatles albums and have not come across this anomaly before.
 also note that the Mother Number on side 1 is etched as a C the Mother is always a Number so again an anomaly, on side 2 the Mother Number could be 3 or 5(I think 3, however either way it is still a low number denoting an early first pressing 



 The Records Looks VG and play Both sides overall  in VG+ to EX Condition
the copy does have lots of very light surface marks and light surface scratches which do not effect play other wise the entire rest of the album both sides plays extremely well with only the lightest occasional crackle between tracks and the record retains a high degree of shine making it more desirable in my opinion

(please have a good listen to the record as I have provided a sound file on you tube which is a direct copy from vinyl to wave with no alterations at all what you hear is exactly as it is on the record)

The garrod & Lofthouse flip back Cover is in VG+ condition overall
The cover is in really great condition the back is still very clean and the spine is strong and fully readable and the front is still completely intact with no stickers sellotape or writing there is however slight corner wear at both front edges where the record is withdrawn from the cover and a few age related light wear marks here and there to denote a used 45 year old cover overall a very good cover indeed

The labels on both sides are clean and in very good condition
the labels both sides are in Lovely condition but there are faint initials on the top of the label side 2 but they are very faint and small, also there is some mild spindle wear the re is a KT tax code around the spindle on side 1

The Genuine Emitex inner sleeve is in EX condition
fully intact and in excellent condition no splits, this cover is polythene lined

I am a record collector specializing in 1960’s and 70’s. Rock, psychedelia,Folk Rock, Avante garde, and krautRock.

My Hifi consists of A Linn Axis turntable fitted with a Linn Basik plus tone arm  with an Ortofon 520mk 11 cartridge, I listen to my records through a pair of Rogers LS7’s.

I listen to all the records I sell on this setup, and most records I sell are from my own collection, I wouldn’t sell anything that I wouldn’t be happy to own my self or play on my Hifi, I don’t own or sell crackly or knackered records, I am aware the Audiophile quality stylus are very expensive and no one wants to chip a stylus by playing knackered records.

I Use the Record Collector Magazine's Grading Guide:

Please note I will use + and – to denote grades in-between the ones mentioned below.

I grade the cover,labels and record separately

"MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
