The time has come for me to part with my 50 year old Beatles collection. This collection consists of LP's, 45's, picture sleeves, EP's, 12" singles, picture discs, sealed LP's, test pressings, acetates, promos, box sets, and CD's from the US and the UK. The collection also includes vinyl and CD's from John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, and Apple artists. There are numerous rarities in this collection. The vast majority of the vinyl is in NM- to NM condition; I tried not to acquire anything with a grade below that, or attempted to upgrade, although a few of the extremely hard to find items I was unable to upgrade and will have a grade below that. I'm going to start listing this collection slowly, probably listing only one or two items a week in the beginning, on Wednesday nights, gradually increasing the items listed over time. I'm going to list five items this week just to give everyone an idea of the kinds of things I have in this collection. The Beatles-"Open End Interview" Promo EP with sleeve, Capitol PRO-2549, released in 1964. Vinyl, VISUALLY graded by Goldmine standards, is in NM- condition, with a light mark on side one and a small scuff mark on side two. There are no spindle marks on the label. It's possible, although I can't say for sure, that the marks are handling marks and that this is unplayed. Both sides are in beautiful shape. This also comes with it's extremely elusive sleeve, which is in strong VG- to VG condition, with light wrinkling and a small chip missing from the back side. In addition, while "side two" was printed at the top of the sleeve, previous owner wrote "side one" in pen beside it. It's not very intrusive. But the main thing keeping this from a higher grade are two 1 1/4" X 2 1/4" pieces of white tape which are covering up some writing on both sides of the picture of the LP on the front side of the sleeve. I started to try to remove them and partially removed one, but the process was so nerve wracking I gave up. There are also approximately 1" seam splits on all three sides. This is still a very rare sleeve, in any condition. These were only released to DJ's in February of 1964 to drum up some publicity for the newly arrived band. The script on the back side of the sleeve allowed DJ's to appear to be interviewing them live in the studio. This EP also contains three songs: "I Want To Hold Your Hand", "This Boy", and "It Won't Be Long". Overall an excellent example of a very scarce Beatles release.
