The Beatles vs The Four Seasons Super Rare Vee Jay 2 LP Set
Super-Rare "The Beatles vs The Four Seasons" 2 LP set issued in stereo by Vee-Jay Records as DXS-30. The Beatles poster is, alas, long gone (no doubt tacked up on some teenager's bedroom wall lyp in 1964), but there is nary a trace of imperfection to either discs or gatefold sleeve! Only the lightest hint of surface wear to either discs or sleeve (the discs appear virtually unplayed). There are short, smooth splits to the paper on the sleeve at top right, but they certainly don't detract from the unusually beautiful, bright & glossy graphics.
The sleeve is much too large for my little scanner (sorry!) so I've split the image up into 2 separate scans.
Research indicates that there were only 725 sets issued.
There is a very reasonable reserve set for this beautiful Beatles Grail Item.
The serial numbers on the LPs themselves are as follows: LP1: (Beatles): VJLPS 1062
LP2: (Four Seasons): VJLPS 1065
I can recall this LP set on sale back in my little town at the local Woolworth's at the same time that "Meet The Beatles" and Beatle Wigs were being offered. I was only 9 years old, but sophistocated enough to notice myself thinking that this was a very odd collision of musical styles, since every right thinking kid by then knew by comparison, and with certainty based on all evidence from AM Radio, that the Four Seasons seemed definitely "not with it."
