Description
Here as interesting item for the budget conscious Beatles fan and collector:
The record is an original, vintage copy of their US album Yesterday and Today.
Pictures are of actual item. You can see the classic rainbow design of the Capitol label. Catalogue number ST-2553 (ST-X-2-2553) listed on the label. Matrix number on inner groove is printed ST2-2553-B$#2.
Condition of record I would say is VG for its age. I am not a professional grader and pictures are provided. There are some light surface marks, Last played a couple of weeks ago- there are some surface noises here and there but there are no scratches or skips. The record itself is steady and not warped.
Original inner sleeve is included and very good condition. Cardboard sleeve is G, or VG, depending on how you consider the fact that there apparently were tears on the side but it was taped together very well (you can see the color different on the edges in pictures). And of course expected shelf wear. I can promise this record has sat on my shelf sturdily and with no issues, handling it requires no particular delicacy.
This album was the last US only Beatles album of their original run, when US and UK albums were different. There are songs here that originally appeared in UK on Help!, Rubber Soul, Revolver and as singles. Tracklist: Drive My Car, I'm Only Sleeping, Nowhere Man, Dr. Robert, Yesterday, Act Naturally, And Your Bird Can Sing, If I Needed Someone, We Can Work It Out, What Goes On, Day Tripper
This is in STEREO (I'm not even sure if there was ever a mono version of this album).
The cover is the interesting bit: originally this album was interested with the infamous "butcher" cover, where the band poses with baby doll parts and pieces of meat. As this elicited controversy, the recalled those and issued subsequent pressings with a generic picture of them sitting around some amplifiers. The latter is the version you're likely to find. And in fact, that is what this version is- it is another amplifier picture version. But this listing is for a copy where the previous owner recreated the butcher cover with excellent quality and pasted it on the front, thus recreating the infamous butcher cover album.
The perfect item for the Beatles fan that wants a highly listenable, vintage copy of a classic Beatles album that makes for a fun display and conversation piece.
I am listing three other interesting vintage Beatles records and will be happing to combing shipping for winners of multiple items.
