YESTERDAY & TODAY "Butcher" Cover
8% peel started 50 years ago and stopped!
The cover is a solid VG+ without seam splits, paper loss, nor tears.
(See pics of all 3 edges) Thr front slick is bright and glossy. The rear has just a bit of age-appropriate yellowing, some record impression and a very small amount of surface dirt. Plus, there's the slightest upward curve at the bottom corners-about 1/4"--not bent! not even close to bent!. It's just about as good as any you'll see that isn't in shrink--and better than an open-shrink covered one where moisture has invaded from not being stored carefully (like so many have).
NEW NOTE: A concerned buyer asked about possible paper loss and possible tear near John's hand. I thought he might be correct until I took the cover out and examined it with a magnifier. As you can see from the close-up picture-- 1) the area which looked like it might have a loss of paper was merely a shadow; 2) there's another area which looks like a possible paper loss but is merely a 'vein' of original paper which is still stuck to the butcher cover; 3) what appeared to be a tear is actually the cuff of John's sleeve (see oval input). Thanks for asking this important question!
The vinyl itself appears unplayed and rates Mint- for a few sleeve scuffs.
Please don't ask "What's your best price?" like nowheremanrecords did.
1) I won't tell you and, 2) I'll block you from bidding.
I'm torn between having Jim Hansen--preeminent Butcher peeler for 4 decades--complete the peeling or just to sell it to another collector/Beatles fan who wants a really nice example of this LP with a peek at what's underneath. If we peel them all there won't be any 2nds, eh?
