Description

I am selling an early "Trunk Cover" version of the LP "Yesterday and Today" by The Beatles. Released by Capitol Records in the U.S.A., catalog #ST 2553 Stereo. The cover is in excellent shape overall with minimal shelf wear and a small holepunch in corner. Vinyl and labels are near mint! Comes with generic inner sleeve. Please see photos of back cover and labels for more details. Back cover has a small number 6 printed in the bottom right hand corner next to the RIAA seal, signifying that it was printed in L.A. Vinyl labels state catalog # ST-2553 (ST-X-1-2553). The matrix run out has etched:  Side 1)  ST1-2553-B8   Side 2)  ST-2-2553-W2 #2

When we first examined this album we thought that it might be one of the sought after "Butcher Cover" editions, because the cover art is a sheet pasted on and there is a manufactured holepunch. Upon close examination I cannot spot Ringo's vest beneath the pasted cover, and I believe that this does NOT have the alternate butcher picture hidden underneath.

Shelf reference # (LPE-174)

I am adding this note that there appears to be a small O or ( ) etched in the dead wax of the vinyl on both sides, which I have discovered may signify a Jacksonville pressing, not L.A. If you have bid on this record, thinking that it is an L.A. pressing because of the #6 on the back, please let us know and we will be happy to cancel your bid.

On Jan-03-16 at 11:51:03 PST, seller added the following information:

There is no date stated on this album, but upon further research we have learned that this is a 1968 "Subsidiary" issue, most likely from the Jacksonville plant. Please let us know if you have erroneously placed a bid based on the earlier auction information, and we will gladly cancel your bid. This is still a great vintage classic record in excellent condition, but not as early of an issue as we had originally thought.  -Recycled Books
