Up for sale is an original Beatles Yesterday and Today 1966 3rd State Butcher Cover (Mono). Item is sold as-is!

A well-known story among American Beatles fans, this album cover was the subject of controversy just as it was being released, with some distributors and stores refusing to carry it on their shelves. It was subsequently recalled with plenty of sleeves being destroyed outright. However, to save money, Capitol pasted a replacement image known as the "trunk cover" on all other existing retail copies.
Perceptive Beatles fans would soon notice this paste-over job and proceed to peel their album artwork off to find the original image in tact. This is what is known as a 3rd State and this is one of those copies.

I am assuming that all prospective buyers are interested in the album sleeve only! As such, I will be focusing my description on that rather than the record itself.
Please refer to the provided photos as well, I will do my best in the description but seeing it is believing it too! Please use your own visual judgment before making this purchase.
EDGES/SPINE: Cover has been completely split on all sides sans the record slot. Both top and bottom split are held together by clear tape while the left side is completely split with practically no remains of a spine. 
FRONT COVER: Not the best peel, but by no means the worst either. All Beatles' faces are completely visible and a good amount of general details are still present. There is a somewhat small chunk of cover missing next to Paul's head but does not destroy any important aspects of the picture. If it appears "cloudy" that is because of the peel job itself, a leftover of adhesive and the paste-over. A canvas texture is present upon touch. Overall, I would say this is certainly in displayable condition for many Beatles fans. There are plenty of 3rd State Butcher covers that have many of the important elements obscured or destroyed completely from bad peel jobs and thankfully this is not one of them. 
BACK COVER: A somewhat worn back, all text and pictures are visible and readable however. Some writing near the top left corner: "STAPLES". 
RECORD: I have not personally play tested this record. Overall, a very much used record with many amounts of faint scuffs and scratches with some more visible than others even under a bright light. I have provided close ups of more apparent wear that is visible from a small distance. Personally, I would not use this as a listening copy. Does not come with the original inner sleeve.
