Description
You are bidding on an original Beatles Yesterday And Today 2nd state mono butcher cover. As you can see, a previous owner thought (correctly) that this was a butcher and tried to peel the cover in a couple of places. Note Ringo's black turtleneck in pic 5. The vinyl is in very good condition with light signs of wear and plays nicely. Comes with original Capitol records gold advertising inner sleeve.
I purchased this record at a garage sale in 1992 and it has been in my collection ever since. I live in a smoke and pet free home and have played this record less than five times since it has been in my possession.
Aside from the obvious jacket damage, this record is in remarkably good condition. I have another butcher 2nd that is not in as good condition as this one.
These are incredibly hard to find. Working in record stores in the early 2000's I came across three. This one could be professionally peeled and could retain 95% of the butcher. Or leave it as is, as I have done.
I have tried to be as honest and accurate as possible with the photos and description. If you have any questions, please ask before bidding. All sales are final. I will adjust shipping costs for multiple buys, so visit my store for other titles. Inventory changes daily, so check in often.
Thanks for looking!

Notes
Underneath the regular cover in the picture shown is the so-called ''butcher'' cover of this release which induced such an outrage that the album was recalled and new artwork was created from an earlier Beatles photoshoot. A small number of copies escaped and appeared on the market nonetheless. These are known as ''first state'' butcher covers. Not wanting to lose time with waiting until the new covers were ready, Capitol decided to first use the new front slicks and glue them over the original artwork, to hide its offensive picture from the public eye. The (not too many) copies of this that came unto the market are known as ''second state'' butcher covers. These are descernible by checking the cover in the middle on the right hand side. If the ''butcher'' artwork is underneath, a dark triangle (of Ringo's turtleneck) shines through (see ''more images''). If the pasted slick is removed and the original artwork thus restored the release is known as a ''third state'' butcher cover. All three states are known in stereo too. This entry in Discogs is the second state cover version.Released on a black Capitol label with rainbow rim.
On the label the cat. no. appears as T-2553, on the cover as T 2553.
