Description
Up for auction is the infamous "Butcher" cover. The real title of course is "The Beatles Yesterday And Today" . I won't go into the history of the album because anyone out there that's into collecting Beatle albums knows the story. This album cover is interesting in that some dealers have told me its a "First State" cover while others have insisted its a "Third State" cover. It's a Scranton cover and that trunk cover was the easiest to peel off the butcher image. There are no glue lines or fragments of glue on the cover. However, there is a bit of a sheen with indicates that it really is a "Third State" cover. I am listing it as a "Third" state"
As for condition the top and bottom seams have been professionally repaired and there is a bit of checkering of the spine. There is some wear on the lip or right side of the cover. There is also some water staining on the back. That being said, the Butcher image is 99% intact and makes a great display item. The record inclosed is a VG to VG+ as is the correct innersleeve.
Going to start this item at $99.00 and it could be a real bargain for the discriminating collector. The STEREO Butcher covers are much rarer than the monophonic ones.
