Description

An original 1st stereo press on the UK Apple label. Matrix 1/1. Please note it is relatively easy to identify 1st press by the "Sold In The UK.." on the label - it was discontinued very shortly after 1st release. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in a very early 1st issue cover with those distinctive 'red lines' on the rear. Please note this copy doesn't include the printers credit on the rear down in the bottom right corner. It is thought that these uncredited covers are the very first iteration and were most likely printed in late '68. Also included is the original Apple black inner sleeve. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl [S1 rates Ex+ & S2 rates Ex/Vg+] In great condition and has only seen light to moderate use. Under close inspection there are a few light marks either side - nothing heavy though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals playback mostly at an EXCELLENT level or marginally higher with a couple of deviations. YS is a really difficult 1st press to find at all - let alone in well preserved condition. This copy is preserved to a high level and produces a nice clean rendition with just a couple of minor issues. S1 - pretty much faultless and certainly nothing vaguely troublesome - just a clean interference free rendition from start to finish. On S2 - playback is still mostly excellent, but it just slips a bit in a couple of spots. In Pepperland I detected a momentary touch of distortion [1 sec] toward the end and two clicks during the track. Later on side 2 I detected a few ticks [not loud pops] in the mid-section of the final two tracks. So, nothing overly annoying - but audible. Side 2 still plays relatively clean and is still very impressive.
Cover (Ex-) Again, YS at 1st press will usually surface with a fair bit of wear and tear. But this example has survived in surprisingly fine form. A lovely clean front without the usual heavy creasing or marks. Please note the white area is showing light signs of ageing as is almost obligatory with these 50 year old copies now. The rear, which is usually the let down area, is in surprisingly fine form. There's no sign of the usual heavy ageing or marks. Just some light handling in places. All flipbacks are intact. Edge wear seems to be very light and the spine 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and lies totally flat.
Inner (Ex) No side splits, or tears to inner circle opening. Which is pretty unusual.
