THE BEATLES: 'YESTERDAY AND TODAY' - RARE 1966 ORIGINAL AND AUTHENTIC **SECOND STATE PASTED OVER** mono **BUTCHER** LP PACKAGE - T 2553
This is a genuine and rare Original 1966 **SECOND STATE PASTED OVER MONO BUTCHER** LP Package for The Beatles release Yesterday and Today LP.
Collectors please note that there are three stages of this ICONIC Beatles album. The first version is known as a 'First State', ie, the VERY FIRST ISSUE, as it was intended for release, before it was withdrawn. The second version this one, is known as a 'Second State Paste Over'. This is where Capitol Records designed a new slick to be pasted over the offending Butcher cover. The new slick is known as the 'Trunk' Cover. The third version is known as a 'Third State Peeled' and this is where an individual or a professional has removed the trunk slick to reveal the Butcher Cover beneath.
This second state pasted over version is in very nice Excellent condition, the front panel of the sleeve is very clean and undamaged with just some light age spotting (foxing) on the bottom right corner. The pasted over Trunk Cover Slick is undamaged and V neck of Ringo Starr can be easily seen through the Slick, this is visible below the album title on the right side of the sleeve.The sleeve sits totally FLAT with no curving/bending. There are NO splits to the edges, no staining, just a couple of corner bumps.
The picture below is the actual image of Ringo's V neck beneath the pasted over Trunk Slick.
The reverse panel of the sleeve is clean, showing no age spotting or staining, just light age toning, and a name written in felt tip pen. The spine edge too is in undamaged condition, with no splits, cracks or tears or crushing, just light age toning, and the wording 'Yesterday and Today' 'The Beatles' are clearly legible, the catalogue number of 'T 2553' shows a little wear. This Second State Paste Over Sleeve was manufactured at the Los Angeles, California pressing plant, indicated by the small No '6' printed on the reverse of the sleeve.
The package also includes an original 1st issue Yesterday & Today mono Vinyl LP on the Capitol Rainbow Label, this LP is immaculate **Near Mint** condition, complete with its original Capitol Records advertising printed inner sleeve.
The official Side 1 matrix: T1-T1-2553-F-11 and Side 2 matrix: T2-2553-G 12
Also included with the package are copies of the Capitol Records recall letter dated June 14 1966, and an 8 page copy of KYA BEAT dated July 9 1966 which features an article on the album.
This is a very nice Yesterday And Today mono second state pasted over sleeve with a superb vinyl disc, and is GUARANTEED 100% original and authentic.
