Description

Here is a pressing of The Beatles’ landmark double vinyl LP:

·        “THE BEATLES”(aka “THE WHITE ALBUM”) by The Beatles

·       This is Apple Records SWBO - 101 (in stereo)

·       It was released November 25, 1968.

·       This is a FIRST RUN COVER, because it has a number below 2,250,000 and no copyright notice. The number on this LP cover is 1,937,154 and there is no copyright notice.

·       “The BEATLES” is embossed on the cover.

·       The COVER has the RARE 4.75 x 4 INCH  WHITE STICKER WITH BLUE PRINT THAT LISTS THE SONG TITLES ON THIS DOUBLE-VINYL LP. Eight different stickers were issued on this LP and ALL of THEM ARE RARE and HARD TO FIND.

·       The labels are Apple labels with the Capitol logo in the perimeter print.

·       The 2 vinyl records inside are FIRST LABEL VARIATIONS with:

1)  “Bungalow Bill” instead of “The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill”.

2)  “Revolution 1” instead of “Revolution #1

3)  “Revolution 9” instead of “Revolution #9

·       The COVER is in NICE VG CONDITION. It shows the usual wear that this white cover was prone to show from rubbing against other LP covers. There are 4 small staple holes near the top left corner where a price sticker was probably stapled at the time it was sold in a retail store. There is wear on the top and bottom seams with some flaking and a 2-inch seam split on the bottom seam at the opening. There is balding on all corners but mostly on the bottom right corner at the opening. There are 2 small splits inside the gatefold cover in the middle, but they do not show on the outside of the cover. A price ($40) is written in one corner of the reverse side of the cover.

·       The VINYL is NEAR MINT MINUS with just a few light surface hairlines/scuffs.

·       This LP comes with the 4 GLOSSY COLOR PHOTOS (one of each Beatle) on heavier stock paper.  “Printed in USA” is in the lower left margin. According to Perry Cox, photos printed before December 12, 1968 have “Printed in USA” in the margins. Therefore, I believe that these are the correct photos for this issue of the LP. The GLOSSY PHOTOS are NEAR MINT.

·       This LP also comes with the COLOR POSTER with LYRICS PRINTED ON THE REVERSE. According to Cox, the first poster has a credit that has the copyright symbol followed by “Apple Records”. Second and later posters changed this credit. Therefore, I believe that this is the correct poster for this issue of the LP.  The POSTER is in STRONG VG+ CONDITION with just minor signs of handling.

A NICE  RARE ADDITION TO ANY BEATLES VINYL COLLECTION!

Thanks to Perry Cox’s Price Guide for the Beatles American Records for details/identifiers provided about this LP.
