Description

The Beatles, White Album: RARE UK 1st Press MONO * LOW NUMBER 0028419 * NO EMI *.

For sale is a copy of The Beatles self-titled tenth studio album, ‘The Beatles’ commonly known as ‘The White Album’.

This is an original UK MONO 1st Pressing produced in early 1968 featuring the sought-after numbered, top-opening sleeve.

The serial number on this copy is #0028419 meaning that this one of the first 30000 albums produced! (Over 2 million sold in total).

The records feature the rare misprint in which ‘An EMI Recording’ is not printed on ANY of the labels.

This is an extremely rare record that is in great condition – a superb addition to any collection.

Many vinyl records are mis-sold on eBay. There are several details which identify this copy as a true 1st pressing. They are:

·      Laminated gatefold sleeve with embossed ‘The Beatles’ text and 7 digit serial number on the front.

·      Dark green Apple logo labels on sides 1 and 3.

·       ‘Sold in the U.K. …’ text on all four of the labels.

·      ‘An E.M.I. Recording’ not present on any of the labels.

·      ‘PMC 7068’ catalogue number.

·      Matrix numbers YEX 709-1 (side 1), YEX 710-1 (side 2), YEX 711-1 (side 3), YEX 712-1 (side 4).

The mother stampers for this record are: 1 HD (side 1), 7 OA (side 2), 3 LP (side 3), & 4 TG (side 4).

I try to take pictures which provide a fair representation of the condition of a record and the sleeve. If interested, please read below for a detailed discussion including an audio description.

Vinyl: Very Good

Both vinyl are in great visual condition.

All Four sides retain the original gloss sheen.

The labels are bright and clean with no writing and minimal spindle wear.

There are several visible marks to all sides, some of which are feelable.

Despite this, the audio quality is VG+ for most tracks on the record.

A couple have the odd pop here and there but nothing that distracts the ear from the music.

There is no groove-wear hiss, and no skips, jumps or sticks.

Sleeve: Very Good +

The iconic white sleeve is in great condition.

Both the front, rear and centrefold are very white with very few blemishes.

There are no laminate ripples, lifts, or bubbles.

The copy has an extremely wide spine that has become slightly discoloured – the writing is still legible though (just!).

Due to the wide spine there is a small scuff to the bottom left-hand corner of the front cover from going in and out of storage.

Otherwise, the corners are good and the openings and edges are crisp.

Inners: Very Good +

The original black die cut inner sleeves, 4 photocard pictures and, the lyric poster are all included.

The inner sleeves are without any rips or tears and with minimal creasing.

The four photocard portraits of each of the Beatles are in excellent condition.

The poster is in great condition with only very small tears on the creases.

Also included in the sale are two audiophile quality inner sleeves which provide the best possible protection for the records.

This is a fantastic example of one of the most iconic albums ever released. Copies with serial numbers this low are seldom sold, here is a great chance to get a copy!

The album is housed within a premium quality polythene outer sleeve. The vinyl is separate to the sleeve.

The album will be sent within a padded vinyl record mailer.
