Description
The Beatles "White Album" MONO double vinyl LP
Number 0156335. Complete with original black inner sleeves, poster/lyric sheet and four photographs.
This is my personal copy of this iconic Beatles album which I bought in the first week of its release in 1968. It has not been kept in a glass case for the last 40 years, but I believe it is still a good example of its kind. I will try to describe it as honestly as I can.
Outer sleeve
Gatefold, top-loading Garrod and Lofthouse sleeve, number 0156335. No tears or serious creases, although there is some delamination at the top of the front side, and hence some discoloration (see photograph).
Inner sleeves.
Original black sleeves, with diecut holes on one side only. No splits, but each has a very small tear (1/4 inch) tear on the centre cutout (see photo).
Poster/lyric sheet
Garrod and Lofthouse poster/lyric sheet. No pinholes or tape marks. The poster is in one piece, although there are some splits along the folds, the longest being about 4 inches.
Photographs
These are in super condition. No pinholes, tape marks or creases. There is even the original blank protector sheet included.
Labels
NB The first two sides do not say "An E.M.I. recording". Each label has my initials written on it, unfortunately (although I hereby disclaim any ownership rights when the album is sold).
Vinyl
The records do have some light scratching but, apart from a few crackles in quiet passages, the following are the only significant defects I have been able to detect.
Side 1
Double skip towards the end of Track 1: "Back in the USSR".
Sticks half way through Track 5: "Bungalow Bill".
Side 2
Small skip near start of Track 1: "Martha my dear".
Small skip in Track 3: "Blackbird".
Side 3
None.
Side 4
3 small skips towards end of Track 2: "Honey Pie".
