Description

This listing is for a low numbered original MONO White Album by The Beatles - a great example of a hard to find first pressing of this classic album, now in its 50th year!

The sleeve is numbered 37308, and so is a first pressing. It has suffered liquid damage at some point in the past - affecting bottom left and top right corners (see photos).

The inner poster and photographs of the four Beatles are all intact and in excellent condition for their age - unmarked and without handwriting.

The original black paper inners are present, the second has a split to the right hand side but they are otherwise still functional.

The LPs themselves have been play tested by me end-to-end on a Thorens TD160 and each plays through without skipping or jumps. The vinyl is perfectly flat and the labels are clean, without handwriting. The are genuine first press labels as neither feature the words “An EMI recording” which features on the more commonly seen second press variants.

The condition of the vinyl is graded conservatively below, using the Record Collector grading system.

Side 1: Matrix XEX 709-1 - visual: many light hairline scratches - one visual scratch across track 4, which does not affect play. Sound: Occasional pops and clicks throughout, still a strong VG

Side 2: matrix XEX 710-1 - visual: the cleanest of the four sides - remarkably clean for its age. Sound: plays with occasional pops and clicks throughout, but again a strong VG

Side 3: matrix XEX 711-1 - visual: the worst of the four sides with a couple of scratches the span the width of the disc but remarkably do not affect play other than causing the odd tick. Sound: Occasional pops and clicks throughout, slightly noisier than the previous sides: G

Side 4: matrix XEX 712-1 - visual: many light scratches and a scuffed line across the disc, none of which cause play to skip, Sound: again, occasional pops and clicks throughout, but good for its age: G/VG
