Description
The Beatles - "White Album" - double vinyl LP. Numbered sleeve 0024900.
Released in 1968 on Apple (cat PCS 7067-68).
The records
On visual inspection the playing surfaces are in excellent condition with just the usual hairline marks. All four sides have been play graded, on a Rega deck fitted with Roksan stylus - at different tone arm settings. Overall grading is excellent minus, some tracks play as very good +, some as excellent, some as excellent +. There is just one audible click at the beginning of "Mother Nature's Son" for three / four revolutions but no others elsewhere on playback. Disc two has a small chip on the edge of the vinyl (see scan) which is on the outer part of the run in groove so it does not affect the playing of the record.
The cover:
There are no splits to the 'top-loading' gatefold sleeve which solid with some evidence of ringwear. There is some staining around the spine - visible on the scan images. There are no photos or inserts although there is still one of the original black paper sleeves.
The second disc is clearly a second pressing (November 1968). It has the added "An EMI Recording" text to the left of the labels, above the 33 1/3” text and "Sold in U.K subject to resale price conditions, see price lists". The publishing year is printed with a small copyright symbol (p). Matrix numbers XEX 711-1 and XEX 712-1. (side 1: Mother; 5 Stamper PA, side 2: Mother 6, Stamper PM)
