The Beatles - The White Album 1978 Rare Expmt Pressing, White Vinyl w/ Splatter
An extremely rare collector's item, please bid responsibly.
For the 10th anniversary of the release of The Beatles (The White Album), Capitol Records came out with a solid white-edition, purple-label repressing in 1978. Copies of those are relatively easy to come by, and are most defiantly not priced this high. There is a reason for that, though. Capitol did some color experimentation on this repressing, which is where this set of records come from. There is a beige and reddish-brown smear mixed in sides 3 and 4 (more on that in a bit) and a regular splatter pattern (grey/black/beige/pale-blue) on sides 1 and 2.
Out of these experimental pressings, almost all of the ones I found had a classic grey-splatter on all sides, not dissimilar to the look of sides 1/2 here. I found 2 examples on Discogs of experimental pressings with the unique red smear, for which I partially based my price on. Those listings are both up at $3,075. This is a great investment for any serious record collector or Beatles fan. Please handle with care, and protect from light (or use a UV protective display) if at all possible. This is a very unique set of records. The vinyl itself is in flawless NM shape with no blemishes, scratches, or defects (though the labels on Sides 1/2 are slightly worn; see pictures). Also included are the George Harrison and John Lennon inserts (no poster). Outer sleeve is in NM condition as well. See photos. Vinyl is shipped in polylined inner-sleeves.
