THE BEATLES - 'SOMETHING NEW'
First released in July 1965, 'Something New' was the first of the 'CPCS/Export' series to be issued
This scarce pressing dates from late-1969 on the '1-EMI-box' EMI/Parlophone label: CPCS 101
The side 1 label 'Slow Down' has mistakenly been numbered as track '4'. This should have been, and was quickly corrected to, '5'
Matrix numbers: YEEX 7-B12 & YEEX 8-B12
Stamper codes: 1/R & 1/R
Disc weight: 140g
Housed in a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed 'Patents Pending' cover with mid-sized stereo front indicator
Complete with its original red & white EMI advertising inner-sleeve

Both are bright and clean with a moderate collection of spindle trails around each unworn centre hole
Visual: VERY GOOD +
Clean, deep-gloss playing surfaces bearing a small handful of light surface marks in strong daylight, but nothing I would call a scratch. Close inspection directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals just a small number of harmless wispy paper hairlines but no additional significant visual blemishes
Sound Quality: EXCELLENT +
Carefully played on good equipment, the sound quality on this disc is clean & clear throughout. My single play-check at volume detected no trace of any groove/play wear on any track or in either channel or any clicks, pops or other such distractions. In fact, apart from a little low-level vinyl background between tracks, there is little to fault here.
Cover: VERY GOOD +
A respectable example which retains a clean, unfaded front panel with light storagewear rubbing to the laminate & a handful of 'thumbnail' wrinkles towards the opening edge. There is light shelfwear to the corners but no tears or feathering to either opening edge. The rear panel bears a few aged fingermarks but is free from any writing or missing paper.
All flipbacks are clean & fully intact and both seams and the spine are smooth, unstressed & unworn
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT
