The Beatles - Sgt. Peppers...Parlophone UK 1st Press Mono LP + Inner. Wide Spine

This is a UK original Mono LP pressing. It has a fully laminated gatefold sleeve which has inner flipbacks. This is the earliest UK "Wide Spine" sleeve variation. This sleeve is printed by "Garrod & Lofthouse". This LP comes with its original "The Fool" designed custom Psychedelic Inner Sleeve. This is printed on paper & has the "Patents Applied For" text. It also comes complete with its original "cut-out" card Insert.

The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has yellow & black "Parlophone" labels. These have "The Gramophone Co..." and "Sold in UK..." texts. There is an embossed company "KT" tax code around the spindle hole on Side 2. The record has 1st press matrix numbers. These are X 637-1 and XEX 638-1. The mother stampers are AOM 2 and DD 2 respectively.

This is a genuine UK 1st Mono pressing with the earliest matrix numbers. The sleeve, as stated, is the earliest UK variation with a wide spine. It is totally complete with the Psychedelic Inner Sleeve & Card Insert too. These are getting rarer all the time. This is a very reasonable copy overall. Gatefold Sleeve: There is some mild or more moderate rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is some light, mild or more moderate hairline rubbing wear on the sleeve opening edges on some areas. This is not too noticeable. There is a small fingertip sized rip, or tear, on the inner gatefold (see photo). This is just below the top flipback - right at the sleeve opening edge. Otherwise, the inner gatefold is in very nice condition.

There is a very mild 5 cm hairline indentation/ scratch mark on the rear sleeve. This is not too noticeable. The spine is everso slightly angled forward. There is a pin-head sized stain on the spine face. There are about 7 small & light hairline creases at the spine area. Two of these hairline creases have left a hairline mark on the spine face. Overall, the spine is in very nice condition. There are about 7 small & light hairline laminate creases across the front & rear sleeve in total. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear on some areas. Overall, this sleeve is in Very Good condition.  

Vinyl: There are two light hairline surface marks on Side 1. These are very close to each other. They measure 6 cm and 3 cm in length. They can hardly be seen under a strong light. There is a long, but light, 9 cm hairline surface mark on Side 2. Again, this van hardly be seen under a strong light. There is a very mild 7 cm surface rub mark on Side 2 too. Otherwise, there are some light, mild, very mild or more moderate surface sleeve rubs, or surface rub marks, which can hardly be seen under a strong light. Overall, the vinyl is in Very Good condition. The labels are in Excellent condition & show mild or very mild spindle wear only.

The Psychedelic Inner Sleeve is in Very Good condition. There is a 10 cm seam split at the centre area of the bottom edge. There is a mild crease that runs horizontally along the entirety of the inner sleeve. This is near the bottom. Otherwise, there is light, mild or very mild ringwear, fading & creasing. 

I shall place the vinyl into a separate plain paper inner sleeve to protect the original inner sleeve from any damage during transit.

The Card Insert is in Near Excellent condition & shows minimal wear only.

I have fully play tested this LP. It plays Very Good to Very Good+ overall. There is some light, mild, very mild or more moderate crackle in some quieter places. The crackle never overpowers the music. The music still shines through! Overall, a reasonable audio copy.
