The Beatles - Sgt Pepper's – Mispress label - Mono.

PMC 7027 – Original Black and Yellow Parlophone label.

An original UK pressing in 100% original condition,  featuring one of the rarest known versions of this ground breaking album.

This copy has  the song credit, ‘A Day in the Life’ MISSING off the record label !.  It isn’t clear how this came about,  there is an interesting storey that in 1967 the BBC in England banned the song ‘A Day in the Life’ and as a result the song  title was removed from the record label !.   This storey is interesting but unlikely to be true, as the song remained on the albums sleeve and the song still played on the record !.

Now considered to be a second pressing, as all copies of this record that have come to light over the years have come with  a period ‘plain white’ inner sleeve and not the attractive red and white pattern inner sleeve that the  first pressings had.

CONDITION:

MAIN SLEEVE:  is in very good++ condition, the sleeve is fully laminated. The colours on the sleeve are bright and clear and have not faded in anyway.  When the gatefold sleeve is opened the period original ‘exposed flipbacks’ can be seen, the inside of the gatefold sleeve is in excellent condition. The four opening edges are all in excellent condition.  There is however some  wear to the outside only of the spine on the sleeve, the words and letters ‘ Lonely H’  have been lost to the   centre of the spine,   but the rest of the text is clear, the spine is very strong, clean and white.    The sleeve  has NO Biro writing, sticker or stains on.

The original DARK ‘Green cardboard cut-out’ is present and it is in excellent condition.

INNER SLEEVE: is in very good++ condition and is the original White sleeve with a printed ‘Patent’ ref on it,   it is very white and clean and has NO edge wear.

VINYL:  is in very good- condition, the vinyl has some isolated marks on it, which stops  it being graded a lot higher.   The  original period ‘thick’, heavy vinyl  is very dark and has a high gloss.   Side One has   Two ‘scuff’ marks on it,  but they do not really affect the audio,  the audio is very good.  On side Two there is a scratch that begins at the end of   ‘Lucy in the Sky’  that causes a ‘tick’, this continues  until the  end of  side Two.    Otherwise the  record plays really well  and lays flat on the turntable and plays with NO skips or jumps.  The matrix no’s. are XEX 637-1 and XEX 638-1 and the Mother/Stampers are  ‘3  8  MMH’ and   ‘O   MMM’   the vinyl has an unusual  sharp edge to it !.

THE LABELS:  on side One the label is in very good+ condition.  The all important label on side Two,  features a VERY RARE MISPRESS,  the brilliant song  ‘A Day in the Life’   has been LEFT OFF  the label !,  this label is in excellent condition.   There are  NO  embossed letters etc on the labels.

Unfortunately as you  will see from my feedback,   I have received one neutral and one negative feedback recently.   This is due to the fact that I followed Ebay policy and reported  an Ebay member for non payment and in turn I have received these two pieces of feedback !, while this Ebay member carries on trading unaffected !,    I am disgusted that Ebay has let this happen !

Grading System

The seven standard condition categories and a description of what each one means are listed below:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
