Description

An original mono 1st press Pepper on the UK Parlophone label. Matrix 1/1. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original mono Garrod & Lofthouse cover with flipbacks exposed in the interior. Also included is an original generic white 'patents applied for' inner sleeve. I appreciate that most of the 1st issues came with the flame/psyche inner sleeve - we do not have this. The generic white inners started appearing around the same time - so it's pot luck as to what you get. Also please note we do not have the cut-outs sheet - this is absent.
Vinyl (Ex+) In beautiful condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks either side - these are superficial and do not impact the audio at all.  A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Pepper is a really difficult Lp to find playing clean all the way through...but this copy manages it...and acquits itself admirably. The purity from these early mono copies is just staggering. This copy delivers a top-level rendition even in all of those tricky tracks..like...WYWY..WI64.."She's Leaving Home"...all play clean without background. Certainly one of the best renditions of Pepper I've witnessed. Interference is pretty much non-existent. I couldn't detect more than a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated spots. Very very nice! Please note there's a name written on one of the labels.
Cover (Ex-) In great shape and has clearly been looked after own the years. Lovely shiny front without the usual creasing you tend to find. Ditto the rear - very nice bold colour with just a couple of stress creases over by the spine. The interior is immaculate - upon opening you get that cracking sound from virgin laminate at the spine.  Edge wear is very light and there's precious little even on the spine. The one issue is the spine which is suffering compression - as a result the text is not that legible..see pics. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Very little ageing. A couple of side splits have been taped up.
