Description
The Beatles' ninth album "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" released on the 1st of June 1967. This copy is a stereo 1st UK press on Parlophone PCS7027.
The front of the sleeve has creasing to the lamination along the top edge and light wear to the opening. The rear shows traces of very light ringwear. The inner gatefold is in excellenct condition and still 'crackles' when you open it out. The spine is clean and readable.
The cardboard 'cut-out' insert is intact and in excellent condition. The psychedelic red and white "patents applied for" inner sleeve shows ringwear and some age discolouration.
The disc labels are crisp and clean with no writing and only the feintist of 'spider' marks. The "All rights of the manufacturer" message begins with "The Gramophone Co Ltd" and there is the "Sold in the UK" statement. The KT tax code is embossed on side one.
There are some light surface marks on both sides of the vinyl. But playing this album through, prior to listing, was a delight. There are some ocassional audibly distant clicks at the end of "Getting Better" and the very start of "Fixing A Hole" and "Within You Without You" and at the very end of "Day In The Life" and the following run-out, but that is about it. There is obviously NO sticking or jumping of the stylus. I believe that most dealers would rate the audio quality as near excellent (if not higher). The matrix and stampers are YEX637-1 and '1' O on side one with YEX638-1 '2' H on side two.
All UK first pressings of "Sgt Pepper" are highly prized and collected, but given the stamper '1' O on this copy, it makes it very rare and a guaranteed investment.
